Assistant Technical Director/ Stage Operations Supervisor

                                               September 2014 - December 2014

            Virginia Opera produces and tours four operas in a season.  Taking their shows to four separate venues in the state.

              

•    Supervised staff Stage Ops staff in day to day operations and duties

•    Executed and lead builds for all the Technical Director's construction drawings

•    Lead truck packing crews and tour preparation

•    On tour, lead scenic load-in/load-out union and no-union crews

•    Supervised run crew during performances

 

Stage Operations Manager
Geva Theatre Center, Rochester, NY
September 2008 - August 2014

 

Geva is a LoRT B, non-profit, theatre serving Rochester, NY. Geva's season consists of seven mainstage shows including one musical. Geva also generally presents one to two small touring shows in the summer.

  • Hired, supervised, and lead non-union deck crews of 1-6 people for all mainstage productions

  • Used Vectorworks to draft scene shift plates, construction drawings, and for other projects as needed

  • Operated all automated scenic elements using Spikemark 3 operating software and Stagehand motors

  • Worked with Stage Management team to generate crew run sheets and set up backstage area for each production

  • Maintained scenic carpentry, properties, and scenic paint elements for all mainstage productions

  • Responsible for purchasing and budget tracking for Stage Operations department

  • Purchased run props/perishable props for each mainstage production

  • Worked with Technical Director as carpenter for all mainstage load-ins and strikes

  • Drove company 16' box truck/26' rental to transport scenery to and from the scene shop, theatre, and warehouses

  • Lead over-hire trucking and carpenter crews during load-in and strike

  • Scheduled repairs, maintenance calls, and safety inspections for two Genie personnel lifts

  • Attended and participated in all production meetings with fellow department heads and artistic staff

  • Coordinated with Development, Education, and Marketing departments to facilitate events on stage

  • Improved the efficiency of storage for mainstage backstage area by constructing multiple new shelving units utilizing vertical space

  • Ensured OSHA compliance for production department as member of Geva's Safety Committee

 

 

Technical Director/Master Carpenter
Zurich Comedy Club, Zurich, Switzerland

June 2006 - October 2008

 

Zurich Comedy Club is a small non-profit, English speaking, community theatre group. ZCC produces two to three shows per year.  

  • Generated technical drawings with Vectorworks

  • Lead scenic construction, resulting in the implementation of standard scenic building techniques

  • Built a supply of stock flats, platforms, and door frames for future use, saving the company hundreds of dollars in future building materials

ISF is a summer stock theatre associated with Illinois State, which produces three rep shows per season.
